Flooring: Hardwood, Engineered Wood, Tile and Luxury Vinyl
Bozetti’s began with flooring in 2016, and it is still the surface we judge a room by. A floor that looks right for years depends on what is done before the first board or tile goes down.
What our flooring work includes
Depending on your scope, a Bozetti’s flooring project covers removal of the existing floor, subfloor inspection and repair, leveling, moisture testing, and installation of solid hardwood, engineered wood, tile or luxury vinyl plank. We also sand and refinish existing hardwood, rebuild or refinish stair treads, and complete the edges: transitions between rooms, baseboard and shoe molding.
How the process works for flooring
Selection comes first. With our designer you choose species, board width, color and sheen, or tile format and grout, and you look at samples in the light of your own rooms, not only under showroom lighting.
Then we measure, check the subfloor and plan the layout: which direction the boards run, where a tile pattern is centered, how the new floor meets the old at each doorway. Wood flooring is delivered ahead of installation so it can adjust to the conditions in the house.
Our projects follow five steps: a complimentary first consultation, a written estimate and agreement, a pre-construction meeting, construction, and a final review of the work and of your written limited workmanship warranty.
What affects timeline and budget
These are the main drivers:
- Area and layout. The number of rooms, closets, hallways and stairs matters as much as the square footage.
- Subfloor condition. Squeaks, dips and old repairs are corrected before new flooring is installed.
- Material. Lead times vary, and wood needs time on site before it is installed.
- Finish. Flooring finished on site is sanded, stained and coated in stages, and rooms stay out of use between coats. Prefinished flooring avoids that step.
- Pattern. Herringbone, borders and diagonal layouts take more cutting and more time than a straight run.
- Hidden conditions. Older flooring and adhesives sometimes need testing by a licensed specialist before they can be removed. When that happens we stop that part of the work, show you what we found, and agree on a written change order before the added work proceeds.
Your contract states the date work is scheduled to begin and the date it is scheduled to be substantially completed. We do not quote a duration or a price before we have seen the floors.

Frequently asked questions
Can our existing hardwood be refinished instead of replaced?
Often, yes. It depends on how much wood remains above the tongue and on the condition of the boards. We check the thickness at a floor register or threshold before recommending either route.
Solid hardwood or engineered wood?
It depends on where the floor is going. Engineered wood is usually the better fit over concrete, below grade or over radiant heat. Above grade on a wood subfloor, either can work, and we explain the trade-offs for your rooms.
Do we need to move out while floors are refinished?
The rooms being finished cannot be walked on between coats, and furniture has to be out of them. Whether you stay in the house depends on which rooms are involved. We plan the sequence with you before work starts.
